Originally from New Guinea, Java and Taiwan, the octopus tree is an evergreen tree that grows up to 15m in height and which normally has multiple trunks. It has bright green leaves grouped together on the ends of its branches.
The flowers develop on the higher part of the tree. They produce bunches of up to 2m in length which contain up to 100 small red flowers. The fruit is consumed by many birds and animals. The flowers produce a large amount of nectar which attracts bird that feed on its honey.
