Originating from South Africa, the coral tree is a medium to large tree, with bark covered in short, thick thorns. Its orange-red flowers appear when the tree is leafless and are arranged in clusters of up to 10 cm at the end of the branches. Its legume fruit is 6-7 cm long, with reddish seeds.
