Originally from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, the ombú is a tree that does not tend to exceed 15m in height. The most spectacular aspect is its trunk, thick at the base and irregular. In adult plants, the base of the trunk and the start of the roots expand in a monstrous fashion.
The flowers are not very colourful and are displayed in spikes. The fruit is meaty, toxic and green and has a colouring effect.
