Very variable colouring, from white to black specimens, and with a variety of intermediate coloured patches. They have horns that are curved backwards and a tuft of hair on the chin called "beard".
They are gregarious animals, living in matriarchal groups of 5 to 20 individuals. It is a domestic species introduced for dietary reasons, which has become wild due to finding itself in mountain environments. It is bred for meet and for dairy products derived from its milk.
