The great Caribbean snake

A species endemic to Cuba. It is an insular animal found in holes and rock piles and in cultivated land. They are mainly arboreal.

They are constrictor hunters and when they catch prey they wrap their bodies around it. With each exhalation of prey they squeeze tighter until they suffocate, then swallow the prey's head first by disengaging their jaws.

The have ovoviviparous reproduction, meaning the eggs develop inside the mother's body, covered by a membrane rather than a shell. They then give birth to 6 or 7 live young that are independent from birth.

They are hunted and killed by humans because they believe that they eat poultry.
