Originating from Australia, the bottle tree measures between 8 and 10 meters in height. Its thickened trunk allows for water storage, which it uses for survival in hot, dry climate zones.

Its bell-shaped flowers are variable in color and its fruits are black at maturity, with yellow seeds covered in hairs. Aboriginal peoples often eat these seeds after roasting them, and the leaves are used as fodder for livestock.
